Woman Arrested For Allegedly Abandoning Dog, Secured To Tree

Manchester, CT – A Connecticut woman has been arrested and charged for allegedly securing a dog to a tree in the woods and leaving him to die. According to the South Windor Police Department, 26-year-old Janiya Bradford was arrested on May 16 for abandoning her dog on April 22.

The dog, Kobe, was found off a trail at the Neiderwerfer Wildlife Sanctuary; the dog’s collar was secured around a large tree branch and he was unable to break free.

Desmond’s Army offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and charges. Bradford has been released on a non-surety bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on June 5.

Kobe was taken to an area animal shelter for care until he was available for adoption. He has been described as a “very sweet” dog.
