Woman Arrested After Trying To Strangle Cat In Apartment Lobby

Vancouver, WA – A woman was arrested and is facing charges after being spotted in a Vancouver, Washington, apartment lobby trying to strangle a cat. As reported by Yahoo News, the woman claimed that the cat, Apollo, was her support animal.

On Sept. 12, the Vancouver Police Department posted the situation on X:

Yesterday while detectives from the DV Unit were at an apartment complex for an unrelated call for service, the manager informed them about a woman who was in the building visiting another tenant who was seen in the lobby strangling a cat. Detectives were able to locate the woman, and the cat, whose name is Apollo.

Police were able to locate Apollo and he was transported to the local Humane Society; the police stated that he was “okay” after the frightening ordeal.

The woman, who has not been named publicly, is charged with first-degree animal cruelty.
