Richland County, SC – Three teens involved in the fatal shooting of a South Carolina police K9 are facing charges. K9 Bumi, a Belgian Malinois with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, was killed in the line of duty on December 23; he was pursuing two suspects who fled a stolen vehicle before being shot multiple times.
One 16-year-old suspect was arrested on Monday and a 13-year-old was arrested on Tuesday; the 13-year-old is believed to be the teen responsible for killing Bumi.
The department thanked the public for assisting in the arrest of the suspects, writing:

According to the Island Packet, Bumi is the third K9 death in the department this year.
