Downey, CA – A handsome German shepherd named Chip has the unfortunate distinction of being the longest-resident dog at the Downey Animal Shelter in California. It is amazing that this three-year-old dog has not been adopted or rescued…he is in the prime of his life, is gorgeous, and he has a great personality to boot.

He’s great at staying for a treat. Waiting for the ball to be thrown. He will wow you, love you and he can be trained to do anything. Give him an opportunity to be your best friend for life.

Chip, ID#A5540919, is intelligent, loving, and eager to please. But all of Chip’s glowing attributes have not managed to secure him the safety that he needs to survive. Tragically, highly adoptable dogs are euthanized every week because the shelter facility has no space for all of the homeless animals that continue to flow into the building. And because of the length of time that Chip has been at the shelter, he is considered to be “urgent.”
