Adams County, WA – Two adult cats and nine newborn kittens are safe after someone abandoned them in a carrier left out in the freezing cold. According to Adams County Pet Rescue, the abandoned felines were saved because someone saw the pet carrier and took action.
The animal welfare agency explains:
This is very upsetting but thankfully, Tony was on his route this morning near Hwy26 and Hwy 395 when he saw a pet carrier on the side of the road. Now this area is remote and they were deliberately left there.
Tony had his wife call us to see if we would help. Talk about surprised when we looked in and found two mama’s and 9 kittens. Tony said when he looked in the crate, one mom was curled on top of the kittens.
The cats and kittens were wet and cold and if help had not arrived, they would have frozen to death.
The rescue group writes,
To top it all off, it looks like one of the moms gave birth in the wet, cold carrier judging by the gunk on the blankets. Some of the kittens still had their umbilical cord attached.
The seal point is very thin and we were surprised to see that she was nursing too.
The cats and kittens are safe and warm and receiving the care they need. If you are interested in making a donation for them, you can send to:
