Shelter Seeks Retirement Home For Resilient Senior Cat Who Survived Horrible Injuries

Boston, MA – Mittens is a resilient survivor. A 15-year-old cat who has survived two broken legs and a shattered jaw after being hit by a car. A cat who was denied proper care following his devastating injuries and a cat, who now recovered, is in need of a loving retirement home.

According to MSPCA-Angell, Mittens is alive today because of their amazing veterinary team who provided over $20,000 of life-saving care to put him back together. In a public release, the animal welfare agency clarified how Mittens came to be in their care, writing:

We must clarify that this was not an instance of an animal being surrendered to us due to the owner being unable to afford care. Mittens had two broken legs and a broken jaw that made him unable to eat, and he was suffering, his owner refused care. We would have worked with them if finances were the issue. Instead we had to open an animal cruelty investigation and remove Mittens via a warrant so he would not remain in pain.

Mittens has been nursed back to health and the shelter hopes that he can spend the twilight of his life in the company of a loving owner.

The agency writes:

He’s incredibly friendly and would do well in a home with other pets or gentle children. At 15, he still has plenty of love to give, and we know the perfect family is out there for him.

Adding:

As part of our Felineanomenon adoptathon, Mittens can be adopted fee-free from August 26-30. If you’re ready to give this special cat the love and comfort he’s been waiting for, visit mspca.org/mittens to learn more.

Note: All inquiries about this cat must be made directly to the shelter facility. Thank you!
