San Bernardino, CA – A senior German shepherd is struggling with the heat inside her kennel run at the San Bernardino City Animal Control. The nine-year-old dog was taken in as a stray on June 28 and nobody has come to the facility to claim her as their own.

What is known of her story has been posted to social media:

She’s older and overweight. She was found as a stray in the city of Rialto. She was trying to get into a resident’s home, frightened from the sound of the fireworks booming all around the neighborhood. In the shelter, she is overheating. The temps in San Bernardino are in the 105-110 range and they don’t have any way to cool down the dogs, who are mostly in outdoor kennels. They’re afraid she might suffer from heat stroke.

The dog, dubbed Rebel, is urgently in need of help and time is not on her side. Please share Rebel’s story to help her receive the help she so desperately needs.
