Brattleboro, VT – Police in Brattleboro are searching for the man responsible for throwing a live puppy into a gas station dumpster earlier this month; the puppy did not survive. Krystal Crandall, Animal Control Officer at the Brattleboro Police Department, received a call about a puppy in a dumpster at the Citgo gas station on Putney Road on July 5.
The four-week-old pit bull puppy was rushed to a veterinarian but could not be saved. It is estimated that the pup was in the dumpster for over an hour before being discovered.
Surveillance video shows a man exiting an 18-wheeler and throwing the puppy into a dumpster.
The Humane Society of the United States is offering a $5,000 reward to identify, charge, and convict the man.
Brenna Galdenzi, secretary of the Vermont Humane Federation’s board of directors said, “While we can’t undo the suffering and untimely death of this innocent puppy, we trust that this reward will incentivize someone to come forward and justice can be served.”
