Lake City, Colorado – An elk found himself in danger after getting his antlers tangled in climbing ropes at a popular ice climbing area in Lake City, Colorado. According to Colorado Parks & Wildlife, the elk got hopelessly tangled in the ropes on January 3 while trying to climb an icy slope.
To prevent the elk, and his rescuers, from being injured, a tranquilizer was administered. The ropes were removed from the antlers and the elk was lowered from the ledge – the tranquilizer was reversed and in approximately 12 minutes, he was alert and on his way.
Happy ending for this elk! Great job to everyone involved.
