Police Find 17 Dogs Living In Truck

Walker, Michigan – A tip led to the discovery of 17 dogs living in a truck in Walker. According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, the dogs were seized and taken to the Kent County Animal Shelter.

The seizure happened on Monday after someone reported concerns about “several” dogs who appeared to be living in a truck parked at a strip mall along Alpine Avenue.

Director of the Kent County Animal Shelter Angela Hollinshead commented on the strain the intake puts on the facility:

“We just really never know what is going to show up at our door and an additional 17 dogs definitely puts a strain on our resources and all of our space … we make it work. At this time, they are being cared for by our staff and our medical team. We provide really great care to everybody, every animal that comes into our shelter.”

According to the Detroit Free Press, the owner has not been charged, but the situation is still being evaluated.
