Orcas Attack And Sink A 50-Foot Yacht

On Sunday, a pod of killer whales targeted a 50-foot yacht in the Strait of Gibraltar. The whales repeatedly slammed into the vessel, causing enough structural damage that it sunk.

The people on board were able to send out a call for help and were rescued before the yacht sank. Sunday’s attack is the latest in a string of encounters that began in May 2020.

As reported by Metro U.K., a female orca dubbed Gladis suffered a “traumatic encounter” with a vessel, and she is believed to be the instigator of the series of attacks that have followed.

Sailors and boaters have been advised to remain vigilant while sailing these waters, especially during the months of May through August.
