Deland, FL – A Florida man is accused of viciously beating a stray dog with a beer bottle and rock. According to the Daytona Beach Journal, 37-year-old Naaman Patrick McGregor attacked the dog because it scratched his car after jumping on it.
On Saturday night, Deland Police officers were called out to a North Marydell Avenue home after receiving a report about a dog being beaten. Officers found an injured and bleeding Chow mix tethered to a tree. The dog was “wheezing from the muzzle” and bleeding from the eye and nose.
Officers found a bloodied beer bottle and noted that the dog had defecated from the beating. There were several people present, but McGregor is the one who admitted to beating the dog. McGregor claimed that the dog was aggressive, but officers familiar with the dog disputed the claim.
He was booked into jail on felony animal cruelty charges.
There is no report of what happened to the dog.
