Canton Township, PA – Police identified and arrested a man suspected of cruelly abandoning injured puppies in the trash in Canton Township. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the abandoned puppies were in plastic grocery bags that were thrown in a trash bin on the 300 block of Beacon Avenue.
Concerned passersby notified the authorities after hearing cries from the trash can. A total of four pit-bull type puppies were discovered; tragically one had passed away and the other three had “severe” injuries.
Franklin Donley is identified as the person responsible for abandoning the pups; he faces multiple charges of aggravated animal cruelty.
The surviving puppies were taken to a veterinary hospital where they are expected to undergo surgery to address their injuries.
