Idaho Kennel Shut Down, Possible Criminal Charges After Dog Dies From Heat Exhaustion

Coeur d’Alene, ID – After a family’s dog died from heat exhaustion at an Idaho boarding facility, the business was shut down and its license was revoked. According to sources, some employees with Faithful K9 in Coeur d’Alene may even face criminal charges for the conditions dogs were kept in at the board and train facility.

Tiffany Price-Eddington’s 13-year-old dog, Bellatrix, was boarded at the facility in July when she left town to visit a dying relative. When she went to pick up the senior retriever on July 20, it was clear that something was terribly amiss. She tells KREM News that her dog could barely walk and had to be carried to the car, stating, “She could hardly lift her head.”

Bellatrix was dead just a few hours later.

After the authorities visited the facility, troubling conditions were found, including a lack of water, and shelter from the intense summer heat.

According to the news agency, animal control officers are familiar with the facility because of prior “animal-abuse” calls to the kennel. A lengthy report noted issues with “dirty” and overcrowded conditions, and a lack of food and water. The animal control agency is recommending a half dozen charges for staff at the facility.

No charges have been filed yet.
