HVAC Tech Saves Family’s Blind Dog After She Fell Into A Pool

Queen Creek, AZ – An HVAC technician was in the right place, at the right time, to save a blind, senior dog who fell into her family’s swimming pool. As reported by Live 5 News, the 10-year-old English bulldog, Malone, tumbled into the pool when temperatures were in the 30s.

Donley Service’s worker Hunter Hitchens was at the residence to repair the heaters when he noticed that something was amiss at the pool. He could see that someone was trying to keep Malone from drowning, but panic was setting in.

Hitchens knew that he had to act quickly, he told the news agency:

“By the time I hit the back door I already had the jacket off about to take the second one off because I knew either I had to go in or she had to go in.”

Hitchens was able to reach Malone and the struggling dog managed to get close enough for him to hoist her safely out of the water. Her owner, Kim Slaughter, said:

“I’m just thankful for that that he was here, there was somebody who loved pets as much as we do. A lot of people don’t realize how important they are.”

Malone and her family at staying at Kim Slaughter’s parents’ home while their house is being built. The pool area is not fenced, but it has never been an issue in the past, and someone is usually with her when she goes outside.
