Lunenburg County, VA – A Virginia man is dead after a bear fell on him during a hunting excursion. According to sources, Lester C. Harvey, 58, died after a bear fell from a tree, striking him on the way down.

The incident happened on December 9 after one of Harvey’s hunting partners shot the bear and after it climbed a tree. Harvey was standing approximately 10 feet away when he was hit by the falling bear.

The injured man was transported to two different hospitals but died from his injuries. According to his obituary, he was a father to five children, and grandfather to eight.
