Seattle, WA – A dog is safe after good Samaritans took action to remove her from an abusive situation in a Seattle transitional housing apartment complex operated by the King County Regional Homelessness Authority. The dog, Angel, was saved after someone saw her being repeatedly struck by her 19-year-old owner.

Video footage and calls to the police led to the arrest of the man who was hitting Angel. A community effort, including the aid of Seattle City Councilmember Joy Hollingsworth, resulted in Angel being surrendered from her owner and placed in a loving foster home.
Hollingsworth tells King 5 News, “I woke this morning to a disturbing video of a dog being abused in one of the buildings that’s on Capitol Hill and immediately, I started to triage.” Her efforts got Angel out of the building, and into foster care.
On November 13, Hollingsworth updated her X followers:
Unfortunately, Angel’s abuser was promptly released from jail on his own recognizance, with only an order to stay away from animals.
