Fort Wayne, Indiana – A handsome tuxedo cat is lucky to be alive after someone abandoned him in a yellow backpack that was left outside during frigid weather. The cat, dubbed Mr. Satchel, was left outside of a shelter facility in Fort Wayne.
Humane Fort Wayne explains:
Mr. Satchel was abandoned in a backpack in the cold outside of our former shelter on Hanna St.
Since the majority of our staff are currently working at our other locations, no one had been at this property in over 24 hours. Thankfully one of our staff members spotted the backpack and, to her shock, found a cat inside.
Not surprisingly, the abandoned cat was frightened and cold – adding insult to injury, he was not feeling well and was covered in his own waste. The animal welfare agency says, “Mr. Satchel was clearly shaken up after being abandoned by his owner. He wasn’t eating well and had diarrhea.”

Better times are ahead for this handsome boy. According to the shelter, someone came to the facility on Monday to adopt him. The shelter writes:
“Our medical team is working hard to set Mr. Satchel up for success in his new home. He’s currently at our shelter receiving some final medical tests and care, and his adopters will be taking him home later this week! Thank you all for rooting for this sweet boy!”
Enjoy your new life sweet boy!
