Harnett County, NC – A Fed Ex driver is behind bars after stealing a family’s dog who wound up dying inside of his delivery truck. As reported by ABC 11 Kimani Joehon Marshall allegedly stole the French Bulldog, Tori, on July 3 and then dumped her body after she died from heat-related issues.
Tori’s body was found by Harnett County deputies on July 7; investigators believe Marshall wanted to breed Tori with his own dog.
Marshall turned himself in on July 22; he is charged with larceny of a dog, possession of stolen property and cruelty to animals. He was booked into the Harnett County Detention Center and let go from his job with Fed Ex.
Fed Ex released a statement to the news agency about the incident:
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the family on the loss of their beloved pet. We understand the importance of people’s pets in their lives and deeply regret the pain that this has caused. The driver is no longer providing service on behalf of FedEx.”
