Roseville, Michigan – On Saturday morning, an 81-year-old man died in a devastating house fire while attempting to save his beloved dog, Lexie. As reported by WXYZ News, the five-year-old dog was John Balkevitch’s “world.”

His daughter, Stacie Krause, tells the news agency:

“He went in for his dog. That dog was his world. He loved her so much,”

Balkevitch initially escaped the blaze, but he went back into his home to save Lexie. Tragically, both perished in the fire.
