Desperate Search Underway For Woman Believed To Have Fallen In Sinkhole While Searching For Cat

Update: Elizabeth Pollard’s body was later recovered from the sinkhole. Her cat has not been found. Rest in peace.


Marguerite, PA – A desperate search is underway for a 64-year-old woman who vanished while looking for her cat, Pepper. According to sources, it is believed that Elizabeth Pollard may have fallen in a newly formed sinkhole in Unity Township.

Pollard’s car was found about 15-20 feet from the sinkhole, parked near Monday’s Union Restaurant; her five-year-old grandchild was still in the car, safe. A listening device lowered into the 30-foot hole did not pick up sound, but a camera captured what appears to be a shoe.

Officials in the area are treating this is a rescue mission and Pollard’s family is asking for privacy.
