Dead And Ailing Dogs Found On Property – Woman Charged With Cruelty

Chatham County, NC – A concerned resident led the authorities to a disturbing situation in Chatham County. According to sources, 44 dogs were found living in squalor in Bear Creek. Of the 44 dogs, six were dead.

The authorities have charged 36-year-old Alicia Dawn Culberson with 10 counts of animal cruelty.

According to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, 36-year-old Alicia Dawn Culberson was arrested Jan. 26, 2024, and charged with 10 counts of animal cruelty.

The surviving dogs were transported to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office’s Animal Resource Center for veterinary care. The dogs are suffering from a variety of maladies, including parasites, malnutrition, dehydration, matted and filthy fur, and other health issues related to being neglected.

Culberson is due in court on Wednesday.
