Long Island, NY – On Wednesday evening, someone called the police in Nassau County with a report of dogs barking. Responding officers made a shocking discovery – someone had abandoned more than a dozen caged puppies in an alley.

The agency said:

A call regarding barking dogs turned into a rescue last night in East Rockaway! Fourth Precinct officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Centre Avenue and when they arrived, they found 14 puppies in a plastic cage abandoned in an alley.

Nobody knows who dumped the puppies, but they are safe now. The abandoned dogs were taken to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter for care.
