Ontario, Canada – A coyote is on the road to recovery after being trapped and freed from plastic trash that was stuck on her body. According to the Hobbitstee Wildlife Refuge, the Humane Society of Greater Niagara staff received a call about a suffering coyote with a plastic ring around her chest and one leg. The ring was on the coyote’s body long enough to become embedded in her skin.

The agency was able to trap the coyote and get her the help she desperately needed to survive. The wildlife refuge writes:
The ring caused her whole body to be weirdly contorted when she walks, but hopefully now with the ring gone and the mange treated she’ll feel much better. She also has a wicked case of hookworm, so that has been dealt with as well.
The wound from where the ring was grown in has been scrubbed clean and it is my experience wounds such as these heal quickly.

This coyote is currently on a prescription food to help her safely regain much needed weight. The wildlife refuge said, “I don’t think her system can handle much more than that, but slow and steady we will work towards that.”
