Henderson, NV – Against all odds, a missing dog is back home after nine years away. In early 2015, Gizmo and two other dogs got out of their house in Las Vegas. A neighbor secured two of the dogs, but a stranger grabbed Gizmo, reports KTNV News.
Gizmo’s owner, Judith Monarrez, tells the news agency, “She picked him up, told my neighbor she was going to get him checked for his chip, and it never happened.”
The two-year-old dog seemingly vanished into thin air – his family posted fliers, and turned to social media groups, hoping against hope that he would be found. But the years passed and Gizmo’s whereabouts remained a mystery.
Until last week when someone dropped the now eleven-year-old dog off at the Animal Emergency Center in Henderson. Staff scanned him for a microchip and learned that he had a family.
Now Monarrez is raising funds to take care of Gizmo’s array of medical issues. She said:
“He’s missing a lot of teeth. They told us that he had teeth falling out of his mouth when they dropped him off…severe dental disease, periodontal disease; he had a horrible eye infection.”
But he is finally home…where he belongs.
