Abandoned Senior Shepherd Overlooked for Weeks, In Danger of Being Put Down

Los Angeles, CA – Since the start of the year, an abandoned German shepherd named Kat has been languishing in a busy animal control facility in Los Angeles. Kat was abandoned on a disabled man’s property and then surrendered to the facility on January 4.

During her stay, she has been referred to as an “easy-going gal,” and a dog with a “gentle and dainty play style,” who, “did well in large yard”

Beautiful senior, Kat

But Kat is not safe. Kat has medical issues and she is at risk of being put down. Her advocate says, “Kat matters. She matters A LOT. And I can’t bear it if she ends up in a black trash bag so SYMBOLIC of the way she has been treated in her dark past, and just a PAINFUL reminder of a betrayed dog for those who chose to open their hearts .”

Medical Notes:

1. Estimated 9 year old intact female German Shepherd with severe age-related conditions
2. Severe chronic alopecia and dermatitis of the caudal region (r/o allergies (flea dermatitis vs. environmental vs. food) vs. infectious (bacterial vs. fungal) vs. endocrine/ hormonal vs. autoimmune disease vs. other)
3. Moderate ataxia/ abnormal gait (r/o osteoarthritis vs. hip dysplasia vs. other orthopedic condition vs. neurological condition vs. other)
4. Persistent low BCS – no weight gain
5. Suspect developing URI – monitoring at this time

Kat needs a miracle. She needs someone willing to treat her issues and spoil her for the remainder of her days – someone who can show her that the world can be kind and loving. Please share Kat’s information, before she is lost forever.
