Tunica, MS – A mother dog and her puppies are safe today no thanks to whoever abandoned them in an ice-covered crate left in frigid temperature on a road. According to Tunica Humane Society, the family was left to die in the cold.

The animal welfare agency said, “Some heartless person put a mother and her little puppies out on the side of the road. We are so thankful to the young woman that took the time to call us and she stayed with them until Natalie arrived.”

Describing the impact situations like this take on the shelter staff, “We are tired. We are discouraged and overwhelmed. This past week has been brutal on us. We have worked extremely hard to prepare for the winter storm coming our way. Every crack of our shelter is full and then today, we had to deal with this.”
