Chilton County, AL – An Alabama dog trainer has been sentenced for starving a woman’s four-month-old puppy to death. Cupid Seymour, 49, was sentenced to one year in the county jail for a cruelty to animal charge stemming from the 2024 starvation death of a Chesapeake Bay retriever named Chloe.
Karen Black enrolled her puppy in a month-long board-and-train program at Seymour’s facility, Cupid’s Doghouse. Three weeks into the program, Seymour called Black to let her know that Chloe had died. A necropsy revealed the puppy had starved to death and lost 33 percent of her body weight during her three week stay at the training facility.
According to court records, Seymour was also ordered to pay $3,500 in restitution and fines totaling $1,000, as well as two years of probation.
