Orange County, CA – Argon, the German shepherd who was rescued after being abandoned in Malibu Creek Canyon in July 2024, has passed away. When Argon was found by rock climbers, he was suffering from dehydration and emotional trauma because someone had zip tied his mouth and neck before dumping him.

After being saved, Argon was taken under the wing of the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County where it was determined that he also had lymphoma.
This week, the rescue organization made the sad announcement that Argon had passed away:
Heaven Has Another Angel Today
Our beautiful, heroic Argon has earned his angel wings. He is flying free in a place where there is no sadness or suffering. A place of pure love, light and joy, where his every dream is fulfilled.
Expressing gratitude to those who supported and loved the resilient dog:
We are eternally grateful to everyone who fought alongside Argon to help him reach remission, however temporarily. He was able to enjoy several pain-free months, and we saw him romp and play and toss toys around like a puppy.
Argon suffered the worst of humanity before being found, but he knew love and happiness after being rescued:
He had a true home in the end with one of our incredible staff members, and he loved to sleep upside-down on his bed inside her home. No one who saw him before and after could believe the transformation. Sadly, when the cancer returned, his body was not strong enough to fight any longer. We could not let our boy suffer any pain. He transitioned peacefully with his favorite humans by his side.
Rest easy beautiful boy.
There is still a $25,000 reward offered for information leading to the arrest of whoever abandoned Argon. Anyone with information is asked to call the LASD Malibu/Lost Hills station at 818-878-1808.
