Chester Springs, PA – A gorgeous German shepherd is on the road to recovery after someone surrendered him to the Animal Care and Control facility in Philadelphia. According to Main Line Animal Rescue group, the shepherd, Harley, was in “horrific” condition.

The animal welfare agency writes:

At just one year old, this beautiful Shepherd had been surrendered in a condition so horrific it brought tears to our eyes. His body was nothing but skin and bones, with most of his fur missing. Every inch of him told a story of suffering—his frail frame of skin and bones was covered in sores and lesions, as if he had been left to endure months of neglect. His ears were swollen with untreated infection. His eyes spoke to his physical strain to survive.

It is hard to imagine how Harley’s condition deteriorated to his current condition. Suffice it to say, he has endured more neglect and suffering than any dog should have to.

Harley needs extensive care to recover from the extreme neglect. According to the rescue organization, their law enforcement team is handling the investigation, and their veterinary team is committed to supporting Harley’s recovery.
