Phoenix, AZ – An Arizona man has been reunited with his dog, who ran away eight years ago. As reported by AZ Central, Paul Guilbeault’s dog, Damian, got loose and bolted in the midst of a cross-country trek from Massachusetts to Arizona.

Guilbeault was on a stop in Oklahoma City when Damian took off after being reprimanded for trying to run onto the road. Guilbeault tells the news agency, “He either got fed up with being scolded or scared, and he just ran away. He started running down the service road, and I couldn’t catch him.”

Guilbeault searched the area to no avail and finally had to continue on his way to Arizona.

Fast forward to 2024 – an Oklahoma resident named Rick Chambers found Damian and had him scanned for a microchip. The information on the embedded chip led to Guilbeault who was shocked to learn that not only was his missing dog still alive, but he was still in the general area where he vanished originally.

Nobody knows where Damian was, but he is back home now. Welcome home!
