Animal Lovers Visit Shelter To Make New Year’s Eve Better For Homeless Pets

Dallas, TX – On New Year’s Eve, hundreds of people showed up at the Dallas Animal Services facility to help make the night a bit better for the homeless pets in their care. According to the animal welfare agency, over 275 people “drove, Ubered, bussed, and walked” to the shelter to be with the cats and dogs at the facility.

The visitors fed the cats and dogs treats, read to them, played music, sang, or simply sat near them as fireworks exploded outside.

Mary Martin, the shelter’s assistant director, said, “The love shared with the animals and with the humans was a thing of beauty and we are excited to prepare to hold a similar event on Independence Day.”

Adding,

“Life will get busy again in the coming days and months, and there will be hard days as there always are in animal welfare, but I hope you will hold in your hearts how great you are and what magic can happen when we work together.”
