Man Arrested For Slamming, Strangling Puppy, Breaking Pup’s Leg

Riverside County, CA – A Coachella man is facing felony charges after strangling a puppy, slamming the pup to the ground, and then hurling him into a wrought-iron fence. The authorities have identified 33-year-old Oscar Jesus Romero Moreno as the person responsible for breaking the six-month-old puppy’s leg on July 24.

Riverside County Animal Services indicated that a woman at the property may have also been a victim of domestic violence on the day that the officer went to the residence to investigate the animal cruelty complaint.

The injured puppy was seized and taken to the Riverside County Animal Services facility where an x-ray confirmed the broken leg. The pup, named Oreo, is receiving “extra comfort” from a shelter employee.

Moreno was arrested and he is facing felony charges for animal cruelty, domestic violence and child endangerment.
