Dog Chews On Lithium-Ion Battery, Sparking House Fire

Tulsa, OK – The Tulsa Fire Department recently released a video about a lithium-ion battery that sparked a house fire, with the hopes that it will help prevent a tragedy in the future. According to the department, in May, a dog chewed on a lithium-ion battery, and it sparked a house fire.

Thankfully, the house had a dog-door installed and all of the pets (two dogs and a cat) were able to escape the flames. The department noted that fires from these batteries are happening nationwide:

Fire departments all over the country are seeing fires related to these batteries and we want the public to learn about usage, safe storage and proper disposal of these potentially dangerous batteries.

Please be aware of the dangers these batteries pose and ensure that they are disposed of properly if they are damaged.
