Henderson, NV – Late last week, a Nevada animal sanctuary announced the death of a beloved giraffe named Ozzie. Lion Habitat Ranch let Facebook fans know that the giraffe, known as a gentle giant, died after a fall.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ozzie, one of our cherished animal family members. Ozzie, the majestic giraffe who graced the ranch, succumbed to injuries sustained from an early morning fall. His loss reverberates through the ranch, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts.
The sanctuary said that Ozzie was startled prior to his fall, and after he went down, he struggled “valiantly to rise.” The sanctuary said that staff and veterinarians, “worked tirelessly, providing round-the-clock medical care, their unwavering commitment a testament to the bond we share with our animal family.”
Describing the giraffe they lost:
Ozzie was no ordinary giraffe. He possessed a gentle spirit that touched everyone he encountered. Whether interacting with keepers or delighting our guests, he left an impression that transcended mere moments. Ozzie was an artist, too—a creator of one-of-a-kind masterpieces. And as the tallest supervisor on our ranch, he watched over us all, his regal presence a comforting beacon.
Rest easy Ozzie.
