Residents Outraged By Wildlife Officials Who Violently Manhandled Friendly Deer Before Euthanizing Him

Princeton, KY – Residents in a Princeton community are outraged and heartbroken over the way fish and wildlife officials treated a friendly deer before killing the animal. Last week, wildlife officials were called out to relocate the deer who was hanging out near a nursing home.

The call was made to the officials because people were afraid that the deer would wander into town and get hit.

A resident who witnessed the wildlife officials’ interaction with the deer wrote:

He was hanging out in a grassy spot by the building and they lured him out with corn, they tried putting a sleeve over his face and he freaked out and jumped and they body slammed this poor deer.

They sat on top of him and hog tied him with a collar. And then carried him out by his feet. I get that a deer is a wild animal but this deer did nothing to no one he was sweet and let everyone pet him and they didn’t have to abuse him like they did.

Adding:

They literally could have used the corn cob to walk him to the trailer and he would have went peacefully but no they had to abuse and make everything extra. It made me sick to my stomach to watch them treat this poor deer like that.

I had said something to one of the game wardens before they brought the deer out and I was like “he is so sweet and lovable” and the game warden said “yeah he won’t be in a week” and after seeing how they treated this poor tamed animal this deer will never walk up to another person nor let anyone near him he will forever be traumatized by humans.

As reported by the Herald Ledger, the deer was killed because officials wanted to test the animal for diseases, and prevent him from harming people because he was habituated to humans and might pose a threat in the future.
