Tripoli, Lebanon – An abandoned baby was carried to safety by a stray dog who found her in a black bag. As reported by The National, the dog carried the bag to a municipality building in Tripoli on Wednesday, and a passerby investigated after hearing the infant’s cries.
The baby girl is said to be in serious but stable condition at a government hospital.
Photos of the abandoned baby have been circulating on Twitter. One person commenting that some people think that dogs are “unclean,” but noting that “this is not true.” The person acknowledged dogs for their cunning and humanity.
The hospital has not released further information about the abandoned baby. The local authorities are conducting an investigation.
