Pauls Valley, OK – A Good Samaritan saved a callously discarded puppy from dying alone in a dumpster last week. His name is Darrell Smith, and he tells OKC Fox 25 News that the emaciated puppy’s soft bark led him to the dumpster.
Smith looked in the dumpster and saw a small, skin-and-bones puppy looking up at him. He called 911 and took the pup to the local animal shelter. Police investigators were able to track down two suspects believed to be responsible for abandoning the ailing pup. The people arrested for animal cruelty are identified as Rickie Stanford and Christine Banville.

Stanford and Banville denied involvement in the puppy’s abandonment, but investigators believe they are responsible for the cruel incident.
Investigators found other emaciated puppies tied to Stanford and Banville – the good Samaritan took some in to foster, three died, and the survivors went to the local animal shelter for care.
Smith had this to say about his good deed:
“I just can’t help see another animal struggle for anything and I did anything with a good heart would do I imagine,”
Tragically, the puppy he rescued from the dumpster did not make it. Rest in peace little one.
