70 Dogs Perish In Overnight Fire At Ohio Dog Kennel

Morrow County, Ohio – A woodstove left burning in a dog kennel resulted in a devastating fire that killed dozens of dogs. As reported by NBC News, the fire broke out around 1 a.m. at 4836 State Route 314 in Mount Gilead.

Residents were able to save 17 dogs before firefighters arrived; another puppy was rescued after rescuers responded to the scene. When help arrived a portion of the kennel’s roof had already collapsed; it took 40 minutes to extinguish the flames.

According to WBNS News, officials have stated that the kennel is a puppy mill breeding operation.
