Oklahoma City, OK – Adult dogs and young puppies were rescued from a parked car in Oklahoma City on March 1. According to the authorities, the 11 dogs and puppies were on the verge of heat stroke after being left in the car for nearly eight hours without food or water.
According to News 9, the car’s interior temperature had climbed to 100 degrees and the car windows were completely closed. The interior of the car was “covered in feces, trash, and old clothing” and the dogs had injuries consistent with dog fighting.
The dog owners had been previously warned about the dogs’ condition, but those warnings were ignored. The dogs had been living in the vehicle since December. After being removed on March 1, the dogs and puppies were taken to an area animal shelter for care.
The owners of the dogs are facing felony animal cruelty charges.
